Gaming forever….
Since I can remember, all the way back in 1990, while we were living in Rio de Janeiro, I have been playing tv games. I started on a knock off console with 2 slots that could house the 2 different NES cartridges, and this was the beginning of the end.
Wind forward to 2018, present day and well I have gotten a lot more game time and this is where gaming forever will become a problem, specifically related to my games I have not finished.
Because of the complete lack of support for backwards compatibility specifically related to current generation of game consoles, what I am stuck with is a collection of games that I will eventually end up throwing away because there wont be anymore consoles left to play them on. I have 50 Playstation 3 games in my catalogue and 40 Xbox 360 games, with only about a 15% completion, and this does not include my Playstation 4 games.
Whats happening here is we are forced to find alternative means to keep playing these games and we are being forced to look to buying new consoles with new games letting our old games become garbage eventually. I dont understand why you would spend decades building an empire only to have its foundation turn to dust. Why is backwards compatibility with consoles like the switch, NDS / 3DS, PSX / PsONE / PS2 / PS3 / PS4 , Xbox / 360 / One such a massive problem, why are we being forced to purchase new consoles and not having the ability to play our current generation of games to completion. Sure the 360 and XB1 have some levels of backwards compatibility, but they are not the only ones out there.
I want a 3DS, but I also want to play my NDS games on there. I want a PS4 but I also want to continue playing my PS3 and PS2 games on there. I have no ambition to get a XB1, but I will get one eventually to be able to play my XB360 games on.
When PS5 comes out we are screwed, because PS5 wont support PS4 and then we have the extra layer of inevitable garbage again..
